Of course police officers must be held accountable for inhumane acts, but it should never get to this. Recruiting, training, and the very culture have to change.
Better screening, better training and higher pay. You said it, bro. That’s a start. States with weed money need to cut a slice off and put it to the above.
Police brutality is never acceptable. That said, there’s so much to unpack. Training and vetting, sure, but societal violence, fear, weaponry and life and death snap judgements in charged situations have to make it so tough to be a good cop. And the racial bias exacerbates itself with amplification in perceptions in media and music.
While recently writing a case study about training cops via virtual reality, I found that 35 states allow new recruits be given a badge and gun and start patrolling immediately while eventually getting their training. So much of the U.S. is insane on so many levels.

Word of the week, obfuscate.
It seems like climbing Mount Everest to get this change
Great observations and if only police departments would engage with your thoughts

We’re all pieces to the puzzle. It sucks.

I guess this makes my sad case. Thanks, Bill.
