You know how right wing media spent the last four years preaching about how horrible crime, immigration, and the US economy are, when in reality, according to the The Economist, our economy is the envy of the world? Well, tighten your chinstrap—there’s whiplash ahead.
Ah, yes, the sycophantic media. The cauldron in which Trump was made. And they are still at it, chasing the shiny objects he puts up, like Greenland; really? Can’t wait to see what they do when the tiller (and the button) are in his hands and they must bow and scrape for table scraps as he shuns them. How nugatory they become, those « objective » media outlets, to borrow from Durrell.
We tried. I hopped on a plane and flew to New York for an interview. My wife and I would have moved from Seattle in a heartbeat. I’ve been production director, but at that time, my portfolio was kind of out of date. But then later on, Jay Gilbert and myself may have done some of the best Radio pieces in our lifetimefor air America. A little bit of laughter in the midst of chaos.
We were media people. And understood radio. A lot of the folks on the air didn’t quite get it, but even so, air America was chased out of the best signals in the biggest markets and there was nowhere to go from there.
Radio is kind of dead these days. Crushed under the weight of its own balls, but democracy is hanging on by a thread . Let’s all do our best to keep it alive.
In the meantime, if the Democrats would’ve only listened to George Lakoff and understood the importance of framing the debate, maybe they would’ve gotten somewhere. You can’t learn from your mistakes until you admit honestly how you made them.
Brilliant!
